Prayer is the enemy of the enemy

28-Jun-21

When we find ourselves in a difficult situation, the greatest weapon already available to us is prayer. But it’s not only our prayers; it’s also the prayers of our fellow believers who have come alongside us in the fight. Abel Lopez, our Latin American Awana director, is our guest on the blog this month. He encourages us to surround ourselves with people who pray for us and to be prayer warriors for others in turn.

Prayer is the enemy of the enemy.

Jack Hayford wrote in his book Prayer is Invading the Impossible, saying, “There is a way to face the impossible: by conquering it!… with force. And prayer provides the means for this kind of force.

An effective Christian life is supported by prayer. We cannot fight the enemy without the weapon of prayer in our lives and service. We may think that prayer is the responsibility of leaders, yet our church encourages us to make prayer a deliberate habit in our lifestyle. As believers, we know well that storms come, and situations arise every week that require us to pray and deepen our understanding of the Word. One way to strengthen our prayers is to surround ourselves with people who help us fight the good fight in prayer.

My mother was one of those people. Every day at 2 p.m., you would find her on her knees praying. She was a vital part of my prayer support. She taught my father how to pray, and once she passed away, my father took her place. People like her are invaluable to us. And there are people like her in every circle of our lives. I pray that our readiness for prayer is greater than our circumstances.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
